Spring Break, Day 3

Day three of our Spring Break started earlier than any other day. I took the girls over to Dad's around 7:30 this morning, then went to a doctor's appointment.

It rained this afternoon, so we headed to Hobby Lobby to get some yarn and crochet needles. Emi already knew how to crochet and tried to teach Kenzie, but she wasn't too successful.


Emi has been working hard on her "scarf", while Kenzie just couldn't take it any longer and fell asleep! The girls are still pretty pewny from the flu, and their coughs are waking them up in the middle of the night. Plus, we all stayed up late last night to watch Dancing with the Stars!
Yesterday the girls and I started our second project of the week: our vegetable garden. We used a Jiffy potting tray with little plugs and filled them with seeds: tomatoes, lettuce, green beans, daisies, petunias and marigolds. In a silver bucket we planted strawberry seeds. This all started because Emi's class project is a contest to see who can grow the largest cabbage head.





Our last project was to fill a bird feeder with bird seed...which we thought was going to be a simple project. Turns out, not so much! The feeder itself was supposed to stick to a window, but the little suction cup thingy wouldn't stay on the window. So, I nailed it to the fence. That was fine 'til a rather round squirrel came and broke off part of the perch and spewed bird seed everywhere! We've had a few birds visit, but they can't get in because of the squirrel!
